Midwest retailer Meijer names new president

WALKER, MI — J.K. Symancyk will take over the role of president of Meijer Inc. from Mark Murray next month, the Midwest retailer said Tuesday, Jan. 15 as the announcement was made to more than 60,000 Meijer employees across five states.

Murray, 58, will remain with the company as co-chief executive officer, a position he’ll share with Hank Meijer and serve as a partner to the development of future business strategy. He’ll also continue as vice-chairman of the Meijer board of directors, helmed by brothers Hank and Doug Meijer.
